Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Date Acquired: 11.10.09 (Hardened Edition)
Date Completed: 11.14.09
Thoughts: All year I was sure I wasn't going to get this game. I haven't even played the first Modern Warfare for goodness sakes! But the day it came out, the positive buzz was high and the reviews were glowing. My friend Matthew was getting it, and Special Ops mode really intrigued me. So Matthew and I went to Best Buy and we each got a copy. I got the last hardened edition, which I generously let Matthew buy, only to see 50 more of them at the front lanes when we checked out, so I got that version.
In the last few days the game's single player has come under fire. People have criticized it for everything from being to short, to being boring, hard to understand, etc. I can understand the too short complaint, and the plot was hard to understand. But while I was playing the game, I loved it. It had a lot of great moments, but even the regular moments were fantastic. The graphics, the attention to detail, the different routes you can take to get to the same place, thus allowing you to flank an enemy while your platoon hits them from another side.
To do: I started Special Ops mode the same day that I completed the single player. THat mode seems to have a lot of possibilities and I expect to have a lot of fun going through that, as well as going through the game on veteran difficulty.

  1. UPDATE: I completed Veteran difficulty on January 17th and that night traded it to a friend for Call of Duty 4 (not permanently, just so we could each play the other game) Found the veteran difficulty to be brutal, and at many times it was simply trial and error game play. I would just load the game, try something, die. Try something, die. Try something, die. Try something, checkpoint!, die. Repeat. Still a testament to the game how awesome it is that it kept me interested. I always wanted to come back and try again.
